What To Expect When You Visit

Our congregation spans a range of ages from twenty-somethings to retirees, and is made up primarily of professionals. Max Anders, the Sr. Pastor, usually wears a sport coat or suit, but you will see people dressed in all styles from jeans to coats and ties.

We meet in a very pleasant facility seating around 150 people, encouraging a warm and engaging atmosphere. If you come a few minutes early, you will find people milling about, having coffee and donuts and just chatting. You are encouraged to share the refreshments. You can meet others at that time or, if you prefer, you can just take a seat in the Great Room. We do not single out visitors and put you in the "spotlight", but you will not visit our church without people greeting you. We are an easy-going and friendly group of people.

Geist Chapel offers a blend of classic traditional with gentle contemporary elements in our music, along with a mix that is neither traditional nor contemporary, to create an eclectic service that strives to appeal to both older and younger generations at the same time. It is neither just a piano and organ with hymnals, nor is it a rock concert. We are focusing on those who want something in between. On a typical Sunday morning, we will have a piano, keyboard, guitar, bass and percussion (congas & shakers, etc.) and a couple vocalists. We will usually sing three or four gentle contemporary songs and a classic hymn during the course of the service.

Each service lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes. Near the beginning, the pastor will encourage everyone to greet the people sitting around them but no one will single you out as a visitor. We don't expect our visitors to give, so feel free to let the offering plate pass by when it comes down your row.

Children and youth begin in the main room with the adults, but when the sermon begins, they are dismissed to join their peers downstairs for age-appropriate instruction.

During the sermon, you will be invited to open your Bible to a passage that will be the basis for the sermon. Extensive use is made of visuals throughout a typical service so there is always something to look at to aid instruction and heighten interest.

We invite you to take the "Three-Week Challenge." Visit us for three weeks, get to know us a little bit as you make your decision as to whether or not Geist Chapel is the church home for you. We hope it is.
